The Center is the setting for the individual private practices of a multi disciplinary group of mental health professionals. All of the therapists are interested in integrating their knowledge of family therapy theory and practice into a variety of therapeutic and consulting activities. In addition, the psychiatrists are interested in providing medication evaluation and treatment in collaboration with referring therapists. Referral can be made either directly to a professional or to the Center. A referral to the Center may be picked up by any individual therapist with available time. Individual & Family Therapy: Time limited, solution oriented therapy provided to individuals, couples and families. A family systems perspective is utilized for child and adolescent problems. We recognize and are sensitive to individuals and families whose needs differ because of race, ethnicity or sexual orientation. Fees are assessed on a sliding fee scale. We accept some third party insurance providers. A request for service may be made by telephoning the intake coordinator at extension 403. The first appointment usually can be within two weeks.
Alternatives to Domestic Aggression: ADA is a program designed to help people end their use of violence and other forms of aggression. It is a five level program emphasizing identification and acknowledgment of battering tactics commonly used by clients, the learning of constructive interpersonal skills to replace abusive behaviors, the acceptance of responsibility and accountability for ongoing behavior, and community service. Intervention plans are tailored to each individual and duration is based on progress. We offer individual as well as group sessions during both the day and evening. Founded in 1983, the Center for Eating Disorders offers treatment, support, and referral services for people with eating disorders, their families, and the community. Programs include Bodywise, treatment for binge eating and compulsive eating disorders, the comprehensive outpatient treatment services for children, adolescents, and adults with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and related disorders. A weekly support group for those in recovery from eating, weight, and body image issues meets every Monday night from 6-7. Call for further information. Low-fee treatment is available through the internship training program. Professional training and supervision also available.

The Counseling Clinic is a non-profit training center operated by the Department of Leadership & Counseling. Clinical services are offered by advanced graduate students in the counseling program under the supervision of EMU professional counseling faculty. The Counseling Clinic offers a broad range of counseling services that address most emotional and behavioral issues (depression, anxiety, relationship issues, career choice, academic problems) as well as offering parent education and stress prevention programming. A variety of career and personality screenings are available (MBTI, Strong, CPI, BDI, Anxiety, Occupational Stress, MCMI, etc…) at low cost. The Counseling Clinic offers a free initial consultation for all clients. Ongoing services are free of charge for all students, faculty, and staff at EMU. For all others who continue counseling, a sliding fee scale is applied. This fee can be waived due to financial difficulties. The Counseling Clinic offers services during the entire academic year and throughout the summer.

The Eastern Michigan University Psychology Clinic is a non-profit teaching facility operated by the EMU Department of Psychology. Clinical services are provided by graduate students under the supervision of licensed EMU clinical psychology faculty. A broad range of behavioral and emotional issues can be addressed, including mood and anxiety disorders, substance abuse, relationship problems, behavioral medicine and rehabilitation problems, and behavioral and emotional problems of childhood and adolescence. Psychological assessments of learning disabilities and ADHD can be conducted at low cost. Deaf therapist available. The University Center for the Child and the Family is a University of Michigan agency offering a comprehensive range of mental health services for children and families in the community. University affiliation is not required to receive services.
